Hello and welcome to a new weekly section on the Wyvern Website which will reveal our favorite videos and GIFs every weeks which relate to the news. The content we embed will hopefully shock,stun and inform you. Why a video and a GIF you may ask: well The Wyvern has taken into consideration what teenagers like and we hope to communicate news through these two forms. Video Steve Ballmer Retirement Speech
Recently, CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer announced that he would be retiring in the next 12 months and on Friday he made his exit speech at the annual company meeting for employees in Seattle. The iconic fella who had been the main man at Microsoft since Bill Gates retired in 2000 is known for his enthusiasm and dedication to his work, he showed this at every press event Microsoft held. From the start when he came dancing onto stage and said "I love this company!" everyone knew he was going to be a slightly odd boss and the video above shows his leaving speech was just as weird, parting out of the meeting to the theme of 'Dirty Dancing' and in tears.
GIF Meteor
This video (turned into a GIF) filmed by a police car in north Alberta, Canada shows a huge meteor burning up as it enters the earths atmosphere.
On Monday 15th April 2013 two explosions went off on the final stretch of the Boston marathon. Over 150 people were reported to be injured and 3 people were unfortunately killed. Social media has played a huge role this week. It has been both a huge advantage yet also a big disadvantage. Amazingly, news broke about the bombings by a Tweet on Twitter which news corporations and publishers picked up. Within minutes of the explosions there were hundreds of reporters, photographers and camera men on the scene getting in the way of the police and marathon organisers. People just like you and me who were at the marathon were taking photos and videos and then uploading them to Vine, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram for the world to see. This is called Citizen Journalism. Because television can’t keep up with social media and news on the internet. Some news anchors resorted to reading out rumours and comments from their Twitter feed. As you can expect, these were uncensored and risky to say on air. There was lots of inappropriate content on the internet that night as people jumped to conclusions and blamed certain groups of people for the bombings. Some of the racist comments even started trending on Twitter. Yesterday, a shootout between a suspect and the police was recorded on camera by somebody living in the local area and then published onto YouTube. This was also citizen journalism which was used by hundreds of news publishers. This morning (Saturday 20th April 2013) news broke that the final suspect had finally been arrested. This is a huge relief for everyone in Boston. In conclusion, we've now learnt that in the future no matter how tragic a news story is, it will be photographed, filmed and written about not just by news publishers but also by the general public. Is this a good thing though?
A few months ago a lengthy post was released on the Star Wars website officially stating that TV/Film director J.J. Abrams will be directing the 7th Episode of Star Wars despite him saying that he wouldn't.
Creator of Star Wars, George Lucas says "I've consistently been impressed with J.J. as a film maker and storyteller. He's an ideal choice to direct the new Star Wars film and the legacy couldn't be in better hands."
Star Wars making a return
Opinions on Star Wars making a 7th, 8th and 9th film have been mixed around the Wyvern team. Some of us think it will be amazing seeing a return of the sci-fi films however most of the Wyvern team argued that it will be rubbish since it will be made by Disney.
Just because Star Wars is being made by Dizney I hope it doesn’t mean that obey wan Kenobi burst into song and Luke Skywalker dances before every lightsaber fight.
Other people think that the film will just be less quality than the other 6 films because the high standard can’t keep high.
However we’ll need to wait until 2015 to find out.
Also, all the current star wars films are planned to be put into 3D and HD!
Today, Thursday 21st March 2013, is BBC School Report Day. The Wyvern Team are making an episode of Wyvern TV in one day. This episode includes school, local and national news stories and they are being covered by our amazing team of 12 willing pupils. Update 3 - 4:00 PM
We finished making the BBC School Report episode of the Wyvern TV 1 hour before the deadline of 4PM and we got it rendered and uploaded to YouTube by 3:30. Everybody taking part had a truly wonderful and enjoyable day and most of us can't wait until the next school report day. Find the episode below: Update 2 - 12:00 AM
As of now two more portions of the episode have been finished these are: The studio section of the dangers of sugar and enrichment week and completed an interview with Miss Kelly, while out of the school the Head of Steam report has been completed and the team there are on their way back to DSMS.

Jack, Rebecca and Ben have set off to the Head of Steam museum to report on the Titanic exhibition meanwhile Sam, Ewan and Hayden look for the latest in sport for later on in the day. The 4 year sevens have also made some interview in the quad at brake about the recent sugar scare and enrichment week!
There has been more shootings in America, this time at Newton's Sand Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.
Eighteen children between the ages of 5-10 years old were killed along with six adults.
The gunman has been unofficially named as 20 year old student, Adam Lanza, who started by killing his mother and then going to the local primary school to shoot at both children and teachers in 2 classrooms before taking his own life.
President Obama made a personal speech below where he said he was considering brining in a new gun law so it makes it harder for things like this to happen.
All over the county roads have been closed, events have been cancelled and in some areas people have even been forced to leave their house just because of the torrential rain which has been falling.
According to the Environmental Agency the number of properties flooded since Wednesday is 816, this means that over 1000 people and been moved to safe accommodation.
The Met Office (weathermen and weather-women) have issued yellow and amber warnings all over the country. This is the way they warn people how bad the flooding is expected to be. Areas like North-East England, Yorkshire and Wales are under the amber warning meaning that people need to be prepared for approximately another 2 inches of rain. Other areas like the London, North West England and the East Midlands are under a yellow warning meaning that the people living in those areas need to be aware.
